Cooking for Cash

Want to know how to make money in your own kitchen?

If you love cooking, one of the easiest ways to make some extra money is to try cooking for cash. In today’s world, everyone seems to be busy and home cooked meals are becoming a thing of the past. Families just don’t have as much time to plan healthy recipes and come up with tasty dinner ideas. Help yourself and help others by offering your cooking services in exchange for a small fee. Soon enough, you’ll have a steady income of cash each week, all from doing something you love – cooking.

All Recipes List

First things first, you should create a list of dishes that your customers can order from. These dishes should be easy, quick and affordable. And of course, they should also be tasty. Do a search online for affordable family meals such as meatloaf recipes, chicken recipes and crock-pot recipes.

If you’re stuck for ideas, here are a few dishes to get you started.

  • Spaghetti bolognese
  • Creamy tomato soup
  • Mac and cheese
  • Meatloaf
  • Pork chops
  • Crock pot recipes
  • Grilled chicken skewers

The best types of recipes are those that will travel and freeze well. For example, you could make a big batch of bolognese sauce or tomato soup, divide it into meal-sized portions and freeze in takeaway containers. These meals could then be either defrosted for your customer or sold frozen as an easy weeknight dinner they can store in the freezer.

Once you have come up with an all recipes list, include the name of the dish, ingredients, serving size and price.

Tell Friends & Family

Tell your friends and family you are cooking for cash and email the all recipes list you prepared earlier. Include your contact details, such as your phone number, email and home address at the bottom of your email. Advise your friends to email or call you with any orders or questions they may have.

A good way to keep orders coming in, is to send an email out each month, highlighting new additions to your recipes list. You should also try and think of what’s happening each month and adjust your recipes accordingly. Offer chocolates during April for Easter and Christmas cookies during December. This will keep your customers interested and excited to place an order.

Start Shopping Smart

Once you have started getting a few orders, you will soon learn which meals are the most popular. Here’s a few tips for when you visit the supermarket:

  • Stock up on ingredients that won’t spoil e.g.  pasta, canned tomatoes and olive oil
  • Buy in bulk wherever you can
  • Freeze meats so they last as long as possible
  • Make sure you are clipping coupons and keeping an eye on the weekly circulars to get the best specials

All of these money saving tips will come in handy in the long run. Remember, every dollar counts.

Get Cooking

The orders are in, you’ve been grocery shopping and now it’s time to start cooking. Where possible, try cooking in big batches. You can then divide the dish into separate containers, depending on your orders. This will save you lots of time, and not to mention, lots of money.

Make Money

Send your friends and family a quick email when their order is ready or give them a call. They can pick up their meals from your house and pay then. This will save you driving around the whole town and wasting money on gas!
